Prayer Ministry
To pray as Jesus prayed - - talking to His Father about every aspect of His life - - so that praying and listening to God become a way of life under girding our individual lives and corporate ministries at First Presbyterian Church so that we may be led by His Spirit having God’s mind perspective and know His will.

Current Weekly Prayer Letter     24-7 Pray Yakima Scripture Support

Our Prayer Ministry Team functions within the five ministry areas of the church; Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Service, and Evangelism. To facilitate and nurtrue the prayer vision into every area of ministry of First Presbyterian Church.  To encourage and model worship and prayer throughout First Presbyterian Church both individually and corporately so that Christ can form His Spirit within us.  And to oversee the prayer ministry, recruiting and training for prayer and worship.

Every Sunday the team is praying intercessory prayers during the 8:00 A.M. and 9:30 A.M. services.  After each of the three services on Sunday the Prayer Team is available in the front of the sanctuary for prayer needs of the congregation and those who attend worship.

Fresh Prayer

A new concept to First Presbyterian Church Ministry of Prayer is called “Fresh Prayer” which is activated for a short period of time when a team prays for a ministry of the church.

Prayer Letter

We also have a Prayer Letter which is mailed to over 400 people within the congregation asking for them to pray for different events and needs from within the congregation.  A Prayer Chain is also available and is activated immediately when a crisis arises within the congregation is phoned into the church office.

“I strongly suspect that if we saw all the difference even the tiniest of our prayers make and all the people those little prayer were destined to affect and all the consequences of those prayers down through the centuries, we would be so paralyzed with awe at the power of prayer that we would be unable to get up off our knees for the rest of our lives.”  Peter Kreeft, author and professor of philosophy at Boston College.
